After studying business management and art history in London and Brussels, Lise Coirier (Parisian by origin) specialized in contemporary crafts and design. She founded design consultancy agency Pro Materia in 1999 with the objective of promoting today’s designers in Belgium as well as abroad by means of expositions, conferences, competitions and publications. Pro Materia’s latest projects include ‘Human Cities’, a project on sustainable urban design which took place both in Brussels and Istanbul, the ‘Belgian Designer Rooms’ in thewhitehotel, ‘Commerce Design Brussels’, an initiative to promote well-designed retail spaces, and many more. At the beginning of 2009, Lise transformed the former Textile magazine into an internationally oriented quarterly on innovative materials and trends in design, fashion, retail and urban space. In the meantime, TL magazine, short for Trends & Living, has become a reference publication for a new vision on the design world of tomorrow.
