Objective: For this project was to improve the
delivery of service through technology. And do
so while keeping in mind that technology
should help people working within the company
and not replace them.
Challenge: The objective was unique and
challenging. We decided to focus on a service
within the hospitality industry. Hospitality is
one of the oldest industries. We thought that
by bringing something unique to this service
platform we could truly make a difference.
Rather than choosing a chain of hotels, we
wanted to take something unique to Savannah.
Savannah is a thriving tourist destination and
with so many hotels and motels in the city, it
would only be logical to see if we could
redesign the experience of an existing
business. We decided to work with
Thunderbird Inn. It is one of the few oldest
motels in Savannah, Georgia. While being retro
from the outside and modern on the inside it
gave us the perfect opportunity to improve the
delivery of a service through technology.
Thunderbird Inn has always embraced new
technology to create some unique experiences
and stay on top of the industry.
Opportunity: The city of Savannah inspires
visitors with its emerald tree canopy, quaint
cobblestone streets, and majestic architecture.
Known as one of the “World’s 30 Friendliest
Cities” by Condé Nast Traveler readers, this
coastal town has a world-class reputation for
hospitality and grace. Savannah will draw you
in with romantic ambiance and a lively
atmosphere long before you leave its
flourishing, park-like Historic District.
According to Kayak, it is one of the most
popular travel destinations for travelers in
North America. Savannah greets just under 15
million people each year. With so many tourists
there is a fierce competition within the
hospitality industry. Every hotel needs to be
innovative to stay in business.
