rocking-2-gether chair
The rocking-2-gether chair is a hybrid
furniture between a rocking chair and dog/cat
house. A "merge" & "morph" design process of a
typical rocking chair and doghouse generates
this hybrid rocking chair. It combines the
idea of pet shelter, (human + pet) body
relaxation and pushes the chairs functionality
to a different, more intimate and personal
level between human and pet.
The rocking-2-gether chair is made out of CNC
milled birch plywood. The density and amount
of the CNC milled "ribs" can be controlled by
using different sized aluminum spacers ergo
controlling the visual connection between the
person and pet as well as seating quality.
The fewer plywood "ribs" are being used, the
stronger the visual connection is between the
human and the pet.
The design process of the rocking-2-gether
chair showcases the successful combination of
digital modeling and digital fabrication.
