Duality Table Lamp

Duality, an exploration of how light can be revealed from within a solid object. The aim was to create a pure representation of this idea through a simplistic form with intuitive user interaction.
The rotation of the unit directly controls the intensity of the light. When the unit is open the light is at full intensity and can then be dimmed to off as it is closed.

Design challenges arose in trying to create a simplistic external form whilst engineering a smooth opening mechanism to control the rotation.
