“Elastic Lamp” represents abstract joy in life. Made of over 700+ colorful rubber bands, this piece is a demonstration of repeating forms that aims to create a sense of childhood nostalgia through ambient lighting. The contrast of a plain wooden base with rainbow bands allows for a careful balance of rigid and soft forms. The shaft of the lamp is malleable to the touch and is able to be repositioned into several different shapes to mirror the elasticity of the media used. The lighting element within this piece is two LED pulsing lights that are able to be controlled remotely.
