Plane Chair

The Plane Chair is an armless dining chair that has been reduced to its essential components. The simplicity of the design continues through to the chair’s construction which utilizes mortise and tenon joinery. To create a counterpoint to the chair’s minimal form, red oak was chosen as the sole material due to its distinctive wood grain. To emphasize this wood grain, each piece of the chair was strategically cut from one board of wood and was ebonized and cerused to highlight its unique pattern.
